It was intimidating for one reason and one reason only: MIL makes them. She does a wonderful job, too.
DH had been asking for them though, and ya gotta give the people what they want!
I started out mixing the Bisquick & cheese. The recipe called for 10 oz. of cheddar, but I had an 8 oz. package. Solution? Add a handful of mozzarella, of course!
I mixed everything with my hands. Less dirty dishes, yay!
Next came the sausage. I've always thought that raw sausage looked kinda icky.
Then came the gross fun part: mixing the sausage in with your hands. This part took for-ev-er, probably a good ten-fifteen minutes. Not really sure why, maybe the dry to wettish ingredients ratio was way off. Still, thats what they called for. Eventually it came around, looked a bit more...yummy...
The recipe calls for them to be golf-ball sized, I hope I was close enough.
20 short minutes later, and they came out looking like this:
And they tasted fannnntastic!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Bisquick Sausage Balls
2 cups Bisquick mix
10 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
1 lb. pork sausage
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix ingredients thoroughly. Roll into balls, about the size of golf balls.
Place on greased cookie sheet [I lined mine with foil and sprayed it with pam, works great!] and bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
Remove from pan and let cool slightly before devouring. :) Enjoy!
